Leftfield (performing LEFTISM)
Saturday 12 August / Mainstage
01:00 – 02:30
Who remembers the 90s? From grunge to skate punk. From acid jazz to big beats. From Bristol to
Aphex, from Radiohead to Björk. From Wu Tang to nu-metal and Noel Gallagher waving the Union
Jack with one hand while giving Blur the middle finger with the other. And then there was ‘Leftism’,
Leftfield’s master piece. The whole music world was left in envy. With thumping house and a touch
of Jamaica the duo Neil Barnes and Paul Delay were way ahead of the rest with their new sound.
Their legendary debut album was the best dance record ever and even after 22 years we still go
berserk when we hear ‘Release the pressure’, ‘Afro-left’ or ‘Song of life’. The album will be rereleased
this year with a whole bunch of new re-mixes and to celebrate that Leftfield will be playing
the whole ‘Leftism’ set in Saturday 12 August.
