Marilyn Manson (USA)
Sunday 6 August / Mainstage
00:00 – 01:15
It’s good to know that in these strange days the voice of the Antichrist Superstar can still be heard. We’re talking about Marilyn Manson, of course, the Nosferatu of rock ’n roll, the man who lives like a bullet that can’t be stopped. Although he’ll be sharing the stage on our metal day with his big example Alice Cooper, these two heroes are growing further and further apart as far as their music is concerned. Manson’s last album, ‘The Pale emperor’, triumphantly brought him back in the foreground and sounds more gloomy and atmospheric than the loud industrial sound he recorded in the 90s. His lyrics are still an attack on Christianity and the rest of the common people and when he goes all out on a song like ‘Deep six’ you can just imagine the sweaty bodies of shouting fans as they steal the show at his concerts. So we’re just as curious as you are to find out what his new album ‘Say 10’ (to be released in February) will sound like.
He certainly is in great shape and especially since taking up a role in our favourite TV show ‘Sons of Anarchy’ he can do nothing wrong. We’re dying to see him turn the otherwise peaceful Lokeren into a sulphur smelling pit with classics like ‘The Beautiful people’, ‘The Dope show’ or ‘Irresponsible hate anthem’. Do you feel like getting burned by Manson’s holy fire on Sunday 6 August? Then go ahead and order your ticket through the website now. It will be a night full of magic, maniac rock ‘n roll and textual poison, a night that is sure to show up in 2017 end of year lists of memorable concerts.
