Being a standard-bearer in the battlefield does not exactly qualify as the easiest job in the world. You’re a walking target and you can feel very alone in the frontline. And yet since the 90s Bad Religion has fulfilled this job very adequately in the American punk frontline after the disappearance of The Ramones, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains. This legendary Los Angeles foursome has an impressive discography and are considered one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time. Their music is cutting-edge and their lyrics razor-sharp, but they always abide by one golden rule: the songs have to be catchy and everyone has to be able to sing along. Since guitar player Brett Gurewitz’ return to the band, Bad Religion is back on track with renewed popularity. As a result: better albums, bigger concert halls and this year even co-headliner on the Lokerse Feesten punk rock day on Wednesday 8 August.
