A few months ago, Dropkick Murphys’ agent asked us if we wanted to organise the party of the year. We didn’t have to think twice about that one, so we sent in the necessary paperwork. And so finally, one of the most authentic American bands of the last twenty years will be playing on our stage. When you say Dropkick Murphys, we shout Boston and automatically think of four-leaf clovers, the colours green/white/orange, St. Patrick’s Day and loads of Guinness. And that’s exactly the natural habitat of one of our 2018 edition headliners. The fundaments laid by bands like Stiff Little Fingers, AC/DC, The Pogues, The Dubliners and the best of the Oi! Bands (Cock Sparrer, The Business) formed an ideal basis on which the band has built up a discography that will give you more than enough energy to dance, mosh and drink throughout their concert. And if you’re worrying about what to wear that evening, let us make a suggestion: a worker’s cap, a Fred Perry polo shirt and a pair of sneakers should make you blend in perfectly with the Celtic punk band from Boston. If you want to bring along a banjo or bagpipes, go right ahead. Question is, does this mixture of punk and Irish traditions work for us Europeans? Of course it does, because deep in our hearts we’re all Celtic peasants and no one is better trained in drinking beer while dancing than us Belgians. So come and fraternize with us at the working class party of the year!
