ISKANDER MOON

We don’t know about you, but we like to tie up loose ends, so here’s a little-known fact that rounds things off perfectly: the multi-talented ISKANDER MOON, hailing from Zelzate, composed the music for the documentary ‘Chérie’, about Eddy Wally.  And who performed at the Lokerse Feesten in 1977! That’s right! On closer inspection, this might not be the sort of connection that the universally beloved Linde Merckpoel would make a podcast about, but still: a fun fact! More fun facts: Iskander Moon’s track record already boasts quite a few highlights: gigs in Berlin and New York, a tour with a male choir (!!), an EP (‘Are you lost here?’, 2024) and, as of this year: a debut LP (“Salt Moon City”) which, despite competition from thousands of weekly releases worldwide, managed to draw all the spotlight to its location. A colourful, warm, sometimes somewhat sad and sometimes somewhat cheerful-sounding collection of songs crafted from the finest precious metal.  Conceived in a solitary cabin in Sweden, where he had only a few moose and a wolverine for neighbours, yet transformed into a masterpiece of craftsmanship that would make great heroes like Paolo Nutini, Sufjan Stevens or Ryan Adams respectfully tip their hats. The album already sounds impossibly beautiful, but live, Iskander Moon sounds even more impressive, and you can experience that for yourself at our Club Studio Brussel on Wednesday 5 August.
