THE SCRATCH
Irish folk is like a winter coat with lots of inside pockets, and THE SCRATCH, who call the streets of Dublin home, have secured themselves a spot with their swinging sound. It's a place where questionable moustaches, bum tattoos and neck carpets suddenly become hip, and where folk and heavy metal lock eyes and then share a few pints of Guinness. If you need an introduction to this completely unique band, we recommend heading to YouTube to watch the videos for “Pull like a dog”, the amazing “Another round” (a video with Groundhog Day vibes, which we love) or “Cheeky bastard” on endless repeat. Live, you'll want to kick off your clogs and put on your best dancing shoes, because standing still is never an option during a show by The Scratch. And make sure you have a designated driver, because it's tradition that concerts by this quartet are accompanied by full pints eagerly passed from mouth to mouth. The Scratch's popularity got a ten Beaufort tailwind last year when their music was used in “House of Guinness”, a hit series on Netflix. However, anyone who has ever seen The Scratch live didn't need streaming to know that this group transforms concert halls into temples of sweat. And anyway, you can't be angry with a folk band whose members walk on stage wearing Thin Lizzy or Megadeth T-shirts, and whose drummer, with his drum kit picked up for free somewhere, blows more power into your neck than Lars with his drum kit that costs more than a sailing boat. The Scratch will be playing at our club on Monday 3 August, the day their mates from Dropkick Murphys will give you the night of the year. The start time will be announced later, but this band won't stop until every inch of our Club is filled with raised fists and headbanging faces.
