ZAZ
Because last summer, even before the final whistle, everyone was already talking about legendary concerts, and both Air and Zaho De Sagazan were greeted with a barrage of ‘OUI’ and “MERVEILLEUX” and ‘SPLENDIDE’, we thought: come on, let's throw open the back door of this country and invite more French people. We did that by sticking arrows in the ground everywhere in August last year. In Marseille, it was one that said “Lokerse Feesten – 1,107 km”, in Bordeaux: 'Lokerse Feesten – 907 km', those from Lille have a lot less to drive (“Lokerse Feesten – 95 km”) than those from Paris (“Lokerse Feesten – 330 km”), but it was mainly in Chambray-Les-Tours (“Lokerse Feesten – 565 km”) that we got the quickest response. A text message from ZAZ: ‘J'arrive’, she wrote succinctly. ‘Attendez, madame ZAZ, it's not until l'été prochain’, we replied in our best Guust Flaters. Jedoch, jugs and pitchers were filled in no time and voilà: ZAZ, la reine de Radio1, is coming to play with us on Tuesday 4 August. She brings with her: handfuls of world songs, which she simmers between performances in baths of French chanson, jazz, modern soul, splendour and melancholy. A song like “Je pardonne” will have you sitting up straight and keeping an eye on that expensive emotion meter around your wrist: the hands will instantly fly to the red box at the bottom right. Well, we have good news: her latest album, Sains et saufs (2025), is full of these kinds of miracles. The concert at the Stadsschouwburg in October 2025 sold out in no time, so grab this second chance with both hands. Wherever you live, because for an artist like ZAZ, the same sign applies everywhere: “Lokerse Feesten – ZAZ, you don't care how many kilometres”.
