TOM ODELL
Brit TOM ODELL once walked out of university with a summa cum laude degree in Piano Pop under his arm. Expectations? Extremely high. Result: after several years of strumming, writing, deleting and trying, he rang the doorbell at the Grote Poort in 2012 to offer “Another Love”. 'Another Love' is one of those songs that first spends weeks and then months in the charts, then disappears, only to be pushed back in by a persistent army of fans. We think that “Another Love” will still be melting hearts in three centuries' time. So rest assured, at the top of international pop music, a cosy loft will remain reserved for Tom for decades to come. House number 127, between Elton John (who stays at 125) and Jeff Buckley (129), two people who must have drunk the same magic potion as a child that Tom also tasted. Meanwhile, seven studio albums are already waving for your attention, and the recent ‘A Wonderful Life’ (2025) in particular has been earning red hearts in the international charts for months. Odell makes even more of an impact live; once the piano is tuned, the band greets each other with a wink and Odell's vocal cords are warmed up, the venue or festival grounds are filled with enormous doses of small joys and melancholy. Surfing on a wave of your tears of emotion, you will be rewarded with an evening – or at least a good hour – of splendour, pomp and autumn colours cast in music. Listen to his collaborations with Lost Frequencies (‘Black Friday’), Aurora (‘Butterflies’) and Zaho de Sagazan (‘Old Friend’), but be prepared for at least an hour of aftershocks and breathlessness from so much thrilling beauty. Tom will be performing with us on Wednesday 5 August, together with Oscar and the Wolf. You see, we at the Lokerse Feesten don't need Black Friday to give you “one dose of magic + one dose free”. With us, that's our daily fare for ten days in August.
